So what's the difference between Amazon Associate links and Marketplace links? The difference is related to how sales are measured and how you get paid your commission.

Amazon Associate links (or Walmart or Target) use your affiliate tags to measure the sale and give you credit and you get paid through Amazon. You see your sales results in your Amazon Associates dashboard. In contrast, Marketplace links are not affiliate links but use the brand's Amazon Attribution tags to measure the sale. For direct Marketplace sales, you are paid by the brand directly through URLgenius. You can see your Marketplace sales results in the URLgenius Marketplace Dashboard.

Creator Best Practices for the Marketplace

1. Find Products Fast with Your Preferred Filters

As you get acquainted with the URLgenius Marketplace, you may find yourself testing out the most effective ways to search for products to promote. We are working on a variety of ways help you curate and find the best deals, products and offers with the highest commissions!

The Marketplace has a variety of product categories including Beauty & Personal Care, Clothing, Shoes and Jewelry, Home & Kitchen and many more. To begin your search, click the accordion symbol in the upper right corner to see the search filters.

Note you can search by product category, brand, price range or even commission percentage. It’s up to you! If, for example, you want to promote products with the highest bonus, simply select “over 30%.”

2. Monitor Your Sales in the Marketplace Dashboard

So you’re in the groove of promoting products through the Marketplace (or you will be soon) — now you want to see what’s working and what’s not so you can fine tune your strategy.

Once your links get some traffic, select 'Marketplace Dashboard' to view your sales and commissions! Note to narrow or expand your result range, select the time period or date range you want to analyze. You can see how much you’re earning from each link and the Average Order Value of your customers.

Sales will show up in the Dashboard reporting in roughly 48 hours, similar to Amazon’s reporting frequency.

3. Maximize Brand Payouts with Marketplace Alerts

Sure sure, this all sounds great right, but we know many creators barely have another hour in their week to spare for more product curation. We get it!

So with a little AI magic, we've also done some of the curation for you! Now when you enter an Amazon Associate product link into the URLgenius composer and that product is in the Marketplace at a higher commission, we'll alert you with a message like this one.

Then, you can choose which link to promote, your Amazon Associate link or the brands direct Marketplace links. It's that simple! We'll be adding more products to the Marketplace, so you may see these alerts more often in the future.

Q: Does the Marketplace use both Associate Tags and Amazon Attribution tags?

A: No, Marketplace links only use Amazon Attribution tags and do not contain Amazon Associate tags. Amazon recently announced that Amazon Associate links can no longer include both associate tags and the Amazon Attribution tags. This practice of using more than one type of tag is sometimes referred to as 'double-dipping'.

Your Marketplace commissions are measured outside of the Amazon Associates program. Your Marketplace commissions are viewable in the Marketplace Dashboard and the commissions are paid by the brand through URLgenius.

Q: How do creators receive their Marketplace commissions?

A: Your URLgenius Marketplace commissions are earned on sales generated from URLgenius Marketplace links. Payouts appear in your Marketplace Dashboard and are issued on a 'net 60' basis just like Amazon. All product in the URLgenius Marketplace are measured via the brand's Amazon Attribution tags with a 14-day cookie window.

When you choose to promote Marketplace links, your Amazon Associates tags are excluded. Commissions are measured and paid by the brand through URLgenius and not the Amazon Associates program.

Q: Are there limits on how many Marketplace links I can share?

A: Sky’s the limit, friend! You can generate and share as many Marketplace links as you like, and it’s highly recommended since you can often earn much higher commissions when compared to Amazon Associates links for the same products.
